# How to Trade

You don't need to worry about complex charts, confusing jargon, or managing trading routes and calculations. The PunkSwap Smart Router takes care of all these tasks for you.

**Getting ready to trade**

To begin trading, you'll require a wallet that supports an EVM compatible blockchain. You can find guidance on obtaining one [here](/punkswap-docs/overview/how-to-get-started/create-a-wallet-metamask.md). Additionally, you'll need to have some Shibarium tokens for trading, and you can learn how to acquire them [here](/punkswap-docs/products/exchange/swap-tokens-and-fees.md).

## Trading on the PunkSwap exchange

1. Go to the exchange page [here](https://app.punkswap.exchange/).

2. Unlock your wallet by clicking Connect **Wallet** (you can also **Connect** in the top right-hand corner). To connect your wallet to the site, you must have your wallet installed in the browser (or as a MobileWallet on your mobile device) like MetaMask. If you haven't done that yet, please go [here](/punkswap-docs/overview/how-to-get-started/create-a-wallet-metamask.md).

3. Choose the token you want to trade from the dropdown menu in the upper section. Whichever token you choose, you will need to make sure you have a sufficient amount of them in your wallet to trade with. Your balance is shown above the token dropdown menu.

4. Choose the token you want to trade to in the lower section as above.

5. Next, either type an amount in the upper section to input the number of tokens you want to swap (spending amount). Or, type an amount in the lower section to input the number of tokens you want to swap to (receiving amount). Whichever section you input your amount, the amount in the other section will be estimated automatically.

6. Check all the details, and click the **Swap** button. If you are trading a token for the first time, you may need first to click "Enable XXX (your token)" to **approve**.

7. A window with more details will appear. Check the details are correct. When you are ready, click the **Confirm Swap** button. Your wallet will ask you to confirm the action.

8. Congrats! You exchanged your tokens successfully! You can check your transaction on blockchain explorer by clicking the link shown above, after the swap got submitted to the blockchain in the right corner above.
